Sara Raj is a South Asian writer, stand-up comedian and playwright originally from Toronto Canada. She was raised by first generation immigrant parents from Andhra Pradesh, India.

Yoga for Billionaires is her debut play. Her comedy centers on her experience as the child of immigrant parents – navigating the vast difference between spirituality in Eastern and Western cultures, what it means to be successful in society, poverty, privilege, colonization and its current day implications.

Her training includes improv, stand-up comedy, solo sketch, playwriting and clowning courses at the Second City and Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto, Wildcard Theatre in London and the Clown Gym in New York City. She has recorded and produced numerous stand up comedy sets, shows, and Moth style stories “True Stories” in Toronto and New York City at the Second City, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Comedy Bar, Broadway Comedy Club and Eastville Comedy Club.

Her work has been featured in festivals in New York and Toronto including SOLOCOM FEST 2023, PHYS FEST 2024, and various fringe festivals.
